conducted by <a href=\"https:\/\/www.canadavisa.com\/ircc.html?utm_source=cicnews.com&amp;utm_medium=article&amp;utm_campaign=2026-08-17_canada-publishes-revised-distribution-of-candidate-scores-within-the-express-entry-pool_79327\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">IRCC<\/a> on <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cicnews.com\/2026\/08\/canada-invites-provincial-nominees-to-apply-for-permanent-residence-0879061.html\" 16?<\/p>\n<p>Between August 3\u2013August 16, Canada\u2019s immigration department conducted a total of four Express Entry rounds, leading to the combined issuance of 8,807 ITAs for permanent residence.<\/p>\n<p>During this time, IRCC issued its <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cicnews.com\/2026\/08\/canada-holds-first-permanent-residence-selections-under-revamped-transportation-category-0878992.html\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">first management system for skilled workers seeking permanent residence in Canada outside Quebec.<\/p>\n<p>To enter the Express Entry candidate pool, a foreign national must qualify for at least one of three economic immigration programs:<\/p>\n<p>Candidate profiles are ranked according to their CRS score, which is made up of points awarded for factors such as age, education, official-language ability, and work experience.<\/p>\n<p>IRCC then conducts invitation rounds and selects candidates from the pool to apply for permanent residence.<\/p>\n<p>The department also uses <a href=\"https:\/\/www.canadavisa.com\/eecategories.html?utm_source=cicnews.com&amp;utm_medium=article&amp;utm_campaign=2026-08-17_canada-publishes-revised-distribution-of-candidate-scores-within-the-express-entry-pool_79327\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">category-based selection<\/a> (CBS) to target candidates whose qualifications align with particular economic or labour-market needs.
