The two cities saw higher volumes of arrivals from all participating countries, with the exception of T\u00fcrkiye.  <\/p>\n<p class=\"text text-block paragraph text-left neo-font-paragraph-xl-reg  yf-18d6y07\" style=\"text-decoration: none; font-style: normal; text-transform: none; text-align: inherit; font-variant-numeric: normal;\">Total arrivals from the 15 countries were up 28.6 per cent or 33,600 in June compared to the year before.  <\/p>\n<p class=\"text text-block paragraph text-left neo-font-paragraph-xl-reg  yf-18d6y07\" style=\"text-decoration: none; font-style: normal; text-transform: none; text-align: inherit; font-variant-numeric: normal;\">Visitors from Panama increased by 10,700, Australia by 7,700 and Germany by 5,100, accounting for 67 per cent of the total year-over-year increase.  <\/p>\n<p class=\"text text-block paragraph text-left neo-font-paragraph-xl-reg  yf-18d6y07\" style=\"text-decoration: none; font-style: normal; text-transform: none; text-align: inherit; font-variant-numeric: normal;\">Arrivals from the Oceania region were up the most since 2010, excluding the COVID-19 pandemic. Air arrivals by German residents peaked on June 19, a day before their World Cup match in Toronto.  <\/p>\n<p class=\"text text-block paragraph text-left neo-font-paragraph-xl-reg  yf-18d6y07\" style=\"text-decoration: none; font-style: normal; text-transform: none; text-align: inherit; font-variant-numeric: normal;\">June&#8217;s <a href=\"https:\/\/financialpost.com\/tag\/consumer-price-index\/\" data-ylk=\"slk:consumer%20price%20index;elm:context_link;itc:0;sec:content-canvas;source:content-canvas%20default\" data-yga=\"{&quot;yLinkText&quot;:&quot;consumer price index&quot;,&quot;yLinkElement&quot;:&quot;context_link&quot;,&quot;yModuleName&quot;:&quot;content-canvas&quot;,&quot;yTrafficOrigin&quot;:&quot;content-canvas default&quot;}\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer nofollow\">consumer price index<\/a> showed that prices for traveller accommodations rose by 19.4 per cent in Ontario and 20 per cent in British Columbia, mostly driven by price hikes in Toronto and Vancouver during the World Cup.  <\/p>\n<p class=\"text text-block paragraph text-left neo-font-paragraph-xl-reg  yf-18d6y07\" style=\"text-decoration: none; font-style: normal; text-transform: none; text-align: inherit; font-variant-numeric: normal;\">With World Cup activity continuing into July, some of the tourism tailwind could have persisted into the start of the third quarter, said Desjardins senior economist Kari Norman in a note.  <\/p>\n<p class=\"text text-block paragraph text-left neo-font-paragraph-xl-reg  yf-18d6y07\" style=\"text-decoration: none; font-style: normal; text-transform: none; text-align: inherit; font-variant-numeric: normal;\">Statistics Canada said Thursday that overall, 811,000 non-U.S. overseas residents arrived in Canada in June, up 3.4 per cent from the same month one year earlier, with the majority or 85.2 per cent of those arrivals by air.  <\/p>\n<p class=\"text text-block paragraph text-left neo-font-paragraph-xl-reg  yf-18d6y07\" style=\"text-decoration: none; font-style: normal; text-transform: none; text-align: inherit; font-variant-numeric: normal;\">Arrivals from Europe, the Americas (excluding the United States) and Oceania drove the increase, more than offsetting a decrease in arrivals from Asia that month.  <\/p>\n<p class=\"text text-block paragraph text-left neo-font-paragraph-xl-reg  yf-18d6y07\" style=\"text-decoration: none; font-style: normal; text-transform: none; text-align: inherit; font-variant-numeric: normal;\">Meanwhile, Canadian residents returned from\u00a03.2 million trips abroad in June, up 3.6 per cent and the third straight month of year-over-year increases.
