{"id":176190,"date":"2026-08-20T21:52:14","date_gmt":"2026-08-20T21:52:14","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/canada\/176190\/"},"modified":"2026-08-20T21:52:14","modified_gmt":"2026-08-20T21:52:14","slug":"ubc-medicine-researchers-awarded-cfi-funding-to-advance-research-innovation","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/canada\/176190\/","title":{"rendered":"UBC Medicine researchers awarded CFI funding to advance research innovation"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"post-byline\">By Alex Hsuan Tsui | August 20, 2026<\/p>\n<p><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1200\" height=\"627\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/canada\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/08\/UBC-Campus-Aerial.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-87990\"  \/><\/p>\n<p class=\"lead wp-block-paragraph\">UBC Faculty of Medicine researchers have been awarded new <a href=\"https:\/\/www.innovation.ca\/news\/jelf-cf-august-2026\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">federal funding<\/a> through the Canada Foundation for Innovation (CFI) to support cutting-edge research infrastructure and help propel innovation across the country.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The five projects will address critical areas of health research including children\u2019s precision medicine, brain health, lung health and more.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">A total of <a href=\"https:\/\/research.ubc.ca\/news\/august-20-2026\/thirty-one-projects-led-ubc-researchers-awarded-close-6-million-through-cfi\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">31 projects<\/a> led by UBC researchers were awarded $5.8 million through CFI\u2019s John R. Evans Leaders Fund (JELF) competition.
