{"id":176834,"date":"2026-08-21T10:26:14","date_gmt":"2026-08-21T10:26:14","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/canada\/176834\/"},"modified":"2026-08-21T10:26:14","modified_gmt":"2026-08-21T10:26:14","slug":"paddling-pools-created-for-ducks-as-pond-dries-up","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/canada\/176834\/","title":{"rendered":"Paddling pools created for ducks as pond dries up"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">Villagers have been filling up makeshift paddling pools to help ducks stay hydrated after their historic pond completely dried up.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">The 17th Century pond in Biddestone, Wiltshire, was originally used for cattle from nearby farms, and locals believe this is the first time it has ever lost all its water.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">As well as providing the paddling pools, villagers are also attempting to preserve the ancient landmark by dredging silt from it while water levels are low.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">Local farmer David Taylor, who came up with the &#8220;cunning plan&#8221; to keep the ducks at the pond, said he had never seen it so dry.
