(WXYZ) \u2014 Many Americans and Canadians are watching U.S.-Canada trade talks closely as there doesn&#8217;t appear to be a resolution in sight.<\/p>\n<p>Trade talks between the U.S. and Canada fell through Friday night, with both sides blaming each other. As tariffs continue to drive up costs and create uncertainty for businesses, industry leaders are warning the impact could be felt throughout the region.<\/p>\n<p>Sandy K. Schieck said his company will feel the impact of President Trump&#8217;s 50 percent tariffs on certain Canadian goods.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;There&#8217;s a lot of items impacted by the tariffs, for us specially at Great Pretenders, the main thing is children&#8217;s dresses and certain capes.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>            <img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/canada\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/08\/1787452748_187_.jpeg\" alt=\"WXYZ\"  width=\"1238\" height=\"797\"\/><\/p>\n<p>WXYZ<\/p>\n<p>        Lukas Schieck<\/p>\n<p>Schieck said he is looking for ways to offset the cost of tariffs rather than pass those expenses along to his customers.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Take the Canadian manufactured product and move it overseas is probably the immediate consideration.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Schieck said his company&#8217;s position on the matter is clear.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;We do not want to have a tariff burden across countries.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney has vowed to impose tariffs on the U.S., focusing on steel, dairy, appliances, agricultural equipment, pulp and paper, and electronics.
