Saskatchewan\u00a0Premier\u00a0Scott\u00a0Moe\u00a0says\u00a0the federal government\u2019s\u00a0counter-tariff\u00a0plan against the United States is the right move.<\/p>\n

Moe\u00a0says\u00a0the\u00a0list\u00a0of U.S. products\u00a0Ottawa\u00a0says\u00a0it plans to put tariffs on covers 11 per cent of his province\u2019s annual imports from south of the border.<\/p>\n

Ottawa\u2019s\u00a0counter-tariffs cover a broad range of articles, from manufacturing staples like steel and aluminum to more day-to-day items such as smartphones, clothing, dairy products and appliances.<\/p>\n

Moe\u00a0says\u00a0his government is analyzing the\u00a0list\u00a0to determine how it will impact jobs and consumer prices, as well as how new relief measures from\u00a0Ottawa\u00a0could help\u00a0Saskatchewan\u00a0get through the trade war.<\/p>\n

The\u00a0premier\u00a0says\u00a0while he supports Ottawa\u2019s approach, he doesn\u2019t want Canada to lose sight of the goal of restoring a free and fair trading relationship with its closest neighbour.<\/p>\n
