THE City of Vancouver says that road rehabilitation work across approximately six kilometres of major routes is set to be begin next month, representing a capital investment of more than $15 million.<\/p>\n

\u201cInvesting in road maintenance is about taking care of the basics that residents rely on daily,\u201d says Vancouver Mayor Ken Sim. \u201cRehabilitation projects like this help maintain a safe and reliable road network and helps extend the lifespan of our roads so they can continue to serve Vancouverites into the future.\u201d<\/p>\n

Alongside repaving work, the City is also making other upgrades to improve safety and comfort for those who\u202fwalk, bike, take transit and drive along these key corridors.<\/p>\n

Victoria-Fraserview:
East 49th Avenue between Knight Street
and Killarney Street<\/p>\n

Street repaving, targeted sidewalk\u00a0rehabilitation,\u00a0new\u00a0bus\u00a0lanes\u00a0and improved bus stops.<\/p>\n

May\u00a0\u2013\u00a0October 2026<\/p>\n

South Cambie:\u00a0
Cambie Street between West 29th\u00a0and West 33rd\u00a0avenues<\/p>\n

Street repaving and\u00a0bike lane\u00a0improvements.<\/p>\n

Throughout May\u00a02026<\/p>\n

West Point Grey:
West 10th\u00a0Avenue between Alma and Blanca streets<\/p>\n

Street repaving, a new pedestrian signal crossing, localized sidewalk widening,\u00a0and\u00a0extended bus stops with\u00a0curb\u00a0and sidewalk\u00a0improvements.<\/p>\n

May\u00a0\u2013\u00a0October\u00a02026<\/p>\n

Projects in South Cambie and West Point Grey are being delivered in partnership with TransLink, through its Major Road Network<\/a>\u00a0program.<\/p>\n

With a vast network of more than 1,400 kilometres of roadways citywide \u2013 including regional transit corridors, major arterial roads and local streets \u2013 the City carries out year-round maintenance and rehabilitation work to help keep road users moving.<\/p>\n

Rehabilitation projects such as these are part of the City\u2019s ongoing efforts to maintain and renew core infrastructure across Vancouver, guided by the\u00a02023\u201326 Capital Plan<\/a>. This is in addition to the City\u2019s regular maintenance work to keep streets safe and clear, including filling potholes, sealing cracks and emergency repairs.<\/p>\n

When a street is fully repaved, the old roadway surface is removed from curb to curb and replaced with new asphalt or concrete, creating a smoother, safer, and longer-lasting driving surface. Most paving projects happen from May to October when the weather is warmer and drier, which allows the asphalt to cure faster, ensuring a smoother finish and durable roadway.<\/p>\n

While paving and upgrade work is underway, temporary traffic restrictions will be in place, with local signage in place to inform pedestrians, road users and cyclists of impacts.<\/p>\n

If travelling through these project areas, expect delays and be sure to follow these traffic tips:<\/p>\n
