Johnson thinks he knows Larkin\u2019s ideal landing spot.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The <a href=\"https:\/\/puckpedia.com\/team\/montreal-canadiens\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" aria-label=\"(opens in a new tab)\">Montreal Canadiens<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cI think that makes a lot of sense,\u201d Johnson said. \u201cDetroit \u2026 would like to get this done sooner rather than later. <\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cYou look at Montreal and how stacked they are for the next 4-5 years\u2014legitimate Stanley Cup contenders. And oh yeah, they have a boatload of prospects that they can send back the other way, that can help the Red Wings.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Johnson went on to discuss Michigan Wolverines center Michael Hage, Montreal\u2019s 2024 first-round pick, as being the centerpiece of a Canadiens package for <a href=\"https:\/\/detroithockeynow.com\/who-will-be-red-wings-top-pivot-if-larkin-isnt\/\" type=\"post\" id=\"25432\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" aria-label=\"(opens in a new tab)\">Larkin<\/a>. He talked about how dynamic the Canadiens could be down the middle with a 1-2 punch of Nick Suzuki and Larkin.<\/p>\n<p>Here\u2019s Why the Red Wings Won\u2019t Be Moving Larkin to Montreal<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"> On paper, Johnson\u2019s proposal does make a lot of sense. However, there are plenty of reasons why it\u2019s never going to happen. Johnson even pointed out the most obvious monkey wrench preventing his plan from coming to fruition.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cLarkin, he does have a say,\u201d Johnson said. \u201cHe wants to be able to determine where he wants to play.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Larkin\u2019s contract includes a full no-movement clause. He\u2019s given the Red Wings a list of destinations where he\u2019d be willing to go. Canada in general isn\u2019t a desired destination. <\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Larkin is among five 2026 U.S. Olympians who recently requested a trade. Interestingly, of the three who\u2019ve already been moved \u2013 Matthew Tkachuk (Calgary), Quinn Hughes (Vancouver), and Brady Tkachuk (Ottawa) \u2013 all successfully sought to get out of Canada.
