The Montreal Alouettes have signed American quarterback Caleb Evans to a one-year contract, the team announced on Tuesday.<\/p>\n

The six-foot-two, 210-pound passer spent the past three seasons with the Alouettes, though his 2025 season was cut short due to a knee injury. 3DownNation reported in July that his knee had fully recovered and he was looking to return to the CFL<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The 28-year-old originally began his CFL career with the Ottawa Redblacks in 2021. Over 63 career regular-season games, he has completed 62.4 percent of his passes for 3,667 yards, 17 touchdowns, and 22 interceptions. Evans has also rushed for 989 yards and 33 scores.<\/p>\n

The native of Mansfield, Texas led the CFL in rushing touchdowns in 2022 and won a Grey Cup with Montreal in a depth role in 2023.<\/p>\n

Evans played collegiately at the University of Louisiana at Monroe, where he threw for 9,513 yards, 58 touchdowns, and 34 interceptions.<\/p>\n

The Montreal Alouettes (9-2) will host the B.C. Lions (6-5) at Percival Molson Memorial Stadium on Friday, September 4 with kickoff scheduled for 7:30 p.m. EDT. Last week, the Lions crushed the Ottawa Redblacks to win a fifth-straight game, while the Alouettes snapped their seven-game winning streak with an upset loss to the Winnipeg Blue Bombers.<\/p>\n

The weather forecast in Montreal calls for a high of 21 degrees and a 30 percent chance of showers. The game will be broadcast on TSN and RDS in Canada, and CFL+ internationally.
