{"id":193111,"date":"2026-09-02T18:21:09","date_gmt":"2026-09-02T18:21:09","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/canada\/193111\/"},"modified":"2026-09-02T18:21:09","modified_gmt":"2026-09-02T18:21:09","slug":"courageous-woman-saves-parent-and-child-from-drowning-in-red-river","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/canada\/193111\/","title":{"rendered":"&#8216;Courageous&#8217; woman saves parent and child from drowning in Red River"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>A Winnipeg woman is being commended for her courage after helping save a father and child from the Red River near St. Johns Park.<\/p>\n<p>On August 24, around 7 p.m., Winnipeg Police Service officers responded to a report that a child had fallen into the river.<\/p>\n<p>According to police, a witness saw the child enter the water, followed by the parent attempting to rescue the child.<\/p>\n<p>The witness then jumped into the river to help both of them.<\/p>\n<p>Related Stories:\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>She pulled the father from the water first, then immediately swam back to the child. The woman swam backward toward shore while holding the unconscious child against her chest.<\/p>\n<p>She began performing life-saving measures while still in the water and continued providing emergency first aid after reaching shore.<\/p>\n<p>When officers arrived, the bystander was performing emergency first aid on the unconscious child.
