{"id":194749,"date":"2026-09-03T18:19:13","date_gmt":"2026-09-03T18:19:13","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/canada\/194749\/"},"modified":"2026-09-03T18:19:13","modified_gmt":"2026-09-03T18:19:13","slug":"ontario-suspect-believed-to-be-in-b-c-now-faces-1st-degree-murder-charge","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/canada\/194749\/","title":{"rendered":"Ontario suspect believed to be in B.C. now faces 1st-degree murder charge"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>              Ontario suspect believed to be in B.C. now faces 1st-degree murder charge<\/p>\n<p class=\"pubStamp\">Published 10:41 am Thursday, September 3, 2026<\/p>\n<p class=\"author\">\n                    By Lauren Collins\/Black Press\n                                      <\/p>\n<p>Two suspects in an Ontario homicide have had their charges upgraded to first-degree murder and the two are still on the run. <\/p>\n<p>Ontario Provincial Police announced the upgraded charges against Ottawa men, 34-year-old Joseph Madore and 28-year-old Brayton Kennedy, on Thursday (Sept. 3). They were both previously facing second-degree murder charges previously. Both have warrants for their arrest.<\/p>\n<p>Police are also still warning that Madore and Kennedy remain at large.<\/p>\n<p>Madore is believed to be in B.C., and may be travelling through or camping in remote backcountry areas, while police believe Kennedy may be in New Brunswick. <\/p>\n<p>Police have previously issued releases about the two, noting that Madore is believed to have connections to the <a href=\"https:\/\/abbynews.com\/2026\/05\/11\/murder-suspect-has-connections-to-abbotsford-and-chilliwack\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer nofollow\">Abbotsford, Chilliwack, Terrace and Richmond areas<\/a>. <\/p>\n<p>In June, RCMP and Ontario Provincial Police seized two firearms in connection with the case, following <a href=\"https:\/\/terracestandard.com\/2026\/06\/11\/firearms-seized-in-terrace-as-part-of-10-year-ontario-murder-investigation\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer nofollow\">a search of a rural Terrace property<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Anyone with information about their locations is asked to contact police. People are asked to call 911 immediately if they see them and to not approach them. <\/p>\n<p>Anyone with any information regarding this investigation is asked to immediately contact the Lanark County Ontario Provincial Police at 1-888-310-1122.
