OTTAWA, Sept 4 (Reuters) – Canadian economic activity expanded at a \u200bfaster pace in August \u200cas prices, inventories and employment rose, Ivey Purchasing Managers Index (PMI) \u200bdata showed on \u200bFriday.<\/p>\n
The seasonally adjusted index increased \u2060to 64.3 in August \u200bfrom 55.1 in July, \u200bhighest since May 2022.<\/p>\n
The Ivey PMI measures the month to month \u200bvariation in economic \u200bactivity as indicated by a panel \u200cof \u2060purchasing managers from across Canada. A reading above 50 indicates an increase in \u200bactivity.<\/p>\n
The \u200bgauge \u2060of employment rose to an adjusted 55.0 \u200bfrom 52.2 in \u200bJuly.<\/p>\n
The \u2060adjusted prices index shot up to 80.4, up from \u206075.5.<\/p>\n
The \u200bunadjusted PMI \u200brose to 62.7 from 54.1.<\/p>\n
