{"id":197445,"date":"2026-09-05T17:21:14","date_gmt":"2026-09-05T17:21:14","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/canada\/197445\/"},"modified":"2026-09-05T17:21:14","modified_gmt":"2026-09-05T17:21:14","slug":"19-year-old-motorcyclist-killed-in-single-vehicle-evanston-collision","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/canada\/197445\/","title":{"rendered":"19-year-old motorcyclist killed in single-vehicle Evanston collision"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">One person was killed and several others seriously injured as a result of three significant road collisions over the course of Friday and early Saturday.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">In Evanston, police reported the death of a motorcyclist involved in a collision at the intersection of Symons Valley Parkway and Evanston View N.W. around 4:20 p.m. Friday.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">The rider, a 19-year-old man, was going eastbound on Symons Valley Parkway when he &#8220;collided with a fixed object,&#8221; said Calgary police acting Staff Sgt. Brad Cage.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">The <a data-ylk=\"slk:Calgary Police Service;elm:context_link;itc:0;sec:content-canvas;\" data-yga=\"{&quot;yLinkElement&quot;:&quot;link&quot;,&quot;yLinkElementType&quot;:&quot;article_link&quot;}\" href=\"https:\/\/calgaryherald.com\/tag\/calgary-police-service\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer nofollow\" target=\"_blank\">Calgary Police Service<\/a> collision reconstruction unit was continuing its work to determine the cause of the collision, Cage said, who added it wasn&#8217;t immediately known if speed or impairment were factors in the crash.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">Later, northbound Deerfoot Trail was shut for a time early Saturday morning after a semi-truck rolled over at 17th Avenue S.E.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">A passenger vehicle also rolled when it reached the initial crash scene and its three occupants were ejected, Cage said.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">They did not receive serious injuries, he added, and were taken to hospital as a precaution.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">Meanwhile on Friday morning, a senior citizen was taken to a hospital after being struck by a Calgary Transit bus she had just exited.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">An 80-year-old woman fell as she was leaving the bus through a rear door at Centre Street and Beddington Boulevard N.W. around 9:40 a.m., police said.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">The pedestrian received serious, life-altering injuries as the bus started to pull away and came into contact with her.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">Speed and impairment are not considered factors in the crash, and the driver remained at the scene, police added in a news release.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">Anyone with information about these incidents is asked to call Calgary police at 403-266-1234.
