Rheinmetall Canada has received a contract from the US Navy to provide spare parts for MSU-200NAV air start units.<\/p>\n
The contract is valued in the single-digit millions of euros, with deliveries scheduled between the end of 2026 and the end of 2028.<\/p>\n
The MSU-200NAV is used to start aircraft engines both on land and aboard ships. Under the contract, Rheinmetall Canada will provide spare parts for two key components: the starter, which initiates turbine operation, and the Full Authority Digital Engine Control (FADEC) system, which controls turbine power output, operating sequences and safety functions.<\/p>\n
The MSU uses a turbine-based design intended for operation under a range of climatic conditions. Its compact dimensions and relatively low weight also allow the unit to be transported by air to forward operating bases, providing a mobile aircraft ground-support capability.<\/p>\n
Rheinmetall Canada is responsible for the development, modernization and maintenance of the MSU units from its facility in Saint-Jean-sur-Richelieu, Quebec.<\/p>\n
The company said the contract builds on its existing work in aircraft ground support and its support of US and allied armed forces.<\/p>\n
