{"id":20627,"date":"2026-04-26T20:17:06","date_gmt":"2026-04-26T20:17:06","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/canada\/20627\/"},"modified":"2026-04-26T20:17:06","modified_gmt":"2026-04-26T20:17:06","slug":"council-to-launch-new-bus-service-to-train-station","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/canada\/20627\/","title":{"rendered":"Council to launch new bus service to train station"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">A council has set a date for when a new bus service to a train station will start running.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">Somerset Council will launch the 667X bus service, linking Glastonbury and Street with Castle Cary railway station, in June 2026.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">It is due to run throughout the week, including Sundays, alongside the 667 service, which already runs from Street to Castle Cary station.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">Councillor Richard Wilkins, Somerset Council&#8217;s lead member for transport and waste services, said: &#8220;Hopefully it will prove popular, as it gives people the choice to leave their car at home and save money.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>More from Somerset<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">The 667X will connect specifically with trains to and from London, Exeter, Plymouth, Paignton, Salisbury, Weymouth and Gloucester, the council has said.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">Wilkins said: &#8220;We are delighted to be able to provide this trial service linking Glastonbury and Street to train services at Castle Cary.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">&#8220;The aim is to ensure the route is sustainable in the long term and well used, so we need people to make the most of it.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">&#8220;We have taken care to tailor the timings so the buses link up with the trains.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">The council is also planning to offer a service from Somerton and Langport to link with trains at peak times.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">During off-peak hours, passengers will be able to book the Somerton Slinky to connect with the 667X at Keinton Mandeville for travel to and from Castle Cary station.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">Follow BBC Somerset on <a data-yga=\"{\" ylinkelement=\"\" href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/bbcsomerset\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" data-ylk=\"elm:link;elmt:article_link;slk:Facebook;itc:0;sec:content-canvas\" class=\"link \">Facebook<\/a> and <a data-yga=\"{\" ylinkelement=\"\" href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/bbcsomerset\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" data-ylk=\"elm:link;elmt:article_link;slk:X;itc:0;sec:content-canvas\" class=\"link \">X<\/a>.
