As Shannon noted, Scott has already interviewed for the same position with the Nashville Predators.<\/p>\n<p>Scott has been with the Oilers for a little over a decade. He began as the Assistant General Manager ahead of the 2014-15 season, before being promoted to the Director of Hockey Operations role two years later. He held that position for six seasons, specifically focusing on the Oilers\u2019 salary cap.<\/p>\n<p>There\u2019s no word on whether any other candidate has an edge, but the organization must think somewhat highly of Scott if they\u2019re willing to interview him. The Canucks have also been <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.prohockeyrumors.com\/2026\/04\/canucks-seeking-permission-from-leafs-to-speak-with-shane-doan.html\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">linked<\/a> to former player <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hockey-reference.com\/players\/d\/doansh01.html?utm_medium=linker&amp;utm_source=www.prohockeyrumors.com&amp;utm_campaign=2026-04-26_hr\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Shane Doan<\/a>, who is currently with the Toronto Maple Leafs as a special assistant to the General Manager. Additionally, Vancouver already has a capable in-house candidate in <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.eliteprospects.com\/staff\/29989\/ryan-johnson\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Ryan Johnson<\/a>, who has <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.prohockeyrumors.com\/2026\/04\/canucks-denied-predators-permission-to-speak-to-ryan-johnson.html\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">received<\/a> interest from other clubs.<\/p>\n<p>Additional notes from this evening:<\/p>\n<p>There were ramifications to the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hockey-reference.com\/players\/p\/panarar01.html?utm_medium=linker&amp;utm_source=www.prohockeyrumors.com&amp;utm_campaign=2026-04-26_hr\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Artemi Panarin<\/a> trade now that the Los Angeles Kings have been eliminated from the postseason. <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/Peter_Baugh\/status\/2048542396120518999\" rel=\"nofollow\">According to Peter Baugh of The Athletic<\/a>, since the Kings did not win a series, they will send their 2026 third-round pick to the New York Rangers.
