{"id":23254,"date":"2026-04-28T16:53:06","date_gmt":"2026-04-28T16:53:06","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/canada\/23254\/"},"modified":"2026-04-28T16:53:06","modified_gmt":"2026-04-28T16:53:06","slug":"montreal-industrial-facilities-to-test-warning-sirens-may-6","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/canada\/23254\/","title":{"rendered":"Montreal industrial facilities to test warning sirens May 6"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Montreal fire department says industrial facilities that handle toxic substances will be testing their warning sirens on May 6 between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m.<\/p>\n<p>The Service de s\u00e9curit\u00e9 incendie de Montr\u00e9al (SIM) said in a release that the drill is intended to help ensure people who live and work near facilities where an industrial accident could to lead to the release of toxic chemicals know what to do in case of a real emergency.<\/p>\n<p>The drill also aims to make sure that sirens and other equipment are in good working order and that emergency responders are prepared.<\/p>\n<p>The SIM says the sirens will be tested one by one and that they will emit a rising and falling sound for three minutes. The sirens can be heard across the area that could be affected by a toxic release.<\/p>\n<p>In the case of a real toxic release, the fire department says people should enter the nearest building quickly, shut all doors, windows and ventilation systems and avoid making phone calls \u2014 except to 911.<\/p>\n<p>Children should be left at school or daycare, the SIM says, because those facilities have been informed of the steps they should take to keep children safe.
