A 70-year-old Thornhill man has been arrested and charged in a fatal shooting in Mississauga early Monday, police say.<\/p>\n
Peel police say they were called to a business in the area of Kennedy Road and Matheson Boulevard at about 8:30 a.m. The business is Spy Depot Security, a store that sells surveillance equipment.<\/p>\n
When they arrived, they found a 62-year-old man inside. The victim, who was suffering from several gunshot wounds, died at the scene, they said.<\/p>\n
The suspect was arrested in the building and investigators have recovered a gun, police said.<\/p>\n
In a news release Tuesday, police said the suspect has been charged with first degree murder. He has been remanded into custody.<\/p>\n
Const. Laurie McCann, spokesperson for Peel Regional Police, told reporters Monday that the shooting appears to have been targeted but police have no information about a possible motive.<\/p>\n
“I can tell you it is not a random shooting,” she said.<\/p>\n
Someone in the building who found the victim called 911, McCann said. There were no signs of a break-in, she added.<\/p>\n
McCann said police are looking for any evidence that could help with the investigation.<\/p>\n
“No evidence is too small … every little bit will help the investigators in this case.\u201d<\/p>\n
