The investigation into the shooting death of a Calgary-area woman last year has resulted in a man being charged with providing the firearm used in the crime.<\/p>\n

Last July 19, 23-year-old Madisson Cobb was killed in a parkade at the Shops at Heritage, at 8335 Macleod Tr. S.E., not far from where she worked. She was declared dead at the scene.<\/p>\n

The woman\u2019s former boyfriend, Devon Bradley Malik, 27, was charged with first-degree murder<\/a> two days later.<\/p>\n

At the time of the shooting, Malik was under a court order not to have contact with the Okotoks resident or attend at her place of employment.<\/p>\n

Following a preliminary hearing earlier this month, Malik was committed to trial.<\/p>\n

Police said the investigation continued into the weapon used to kill Cobb.<\/p>\n

\u201cShortly after the arrest, the firearm used in Madisson\u2019s death was recovered with a defaced serial number, and a separate investigation by Firearms Investigation Team was initiated,\u201d police said in a news release.<\/p>\n

Police executed a warrant at a home in the 2700 block of 16th Ave. S.W. on Feb. 3, where they seized four rifles and three shotguns \u2014 one of the latter with a defaced serial number.<\/p>\n

They also recovered six prohibited magazines, numerous air rifles and multiple boxes of ammunition.<\/p>\n

Calgary Police has laid firearms trafficking charges in an investigation that stemmed from a domestic homicide last year.F<\/p>\n

\u201cFurther investigation continues regarding the seized shotgun with the altered serial number,\u201d police said.<\/p>\n

Gordon Kesh Cameron, 44, of Calgary is charged with two counts of firearms trafficking, two counts of failing to report a firearm lost or stolen, and one count of possession of prohibited devices. He goes by the name of Kesh Cameron and was arrested Tuesday, but has since been released pending a court appearance on June 2.<\/p>\n

As well, a Norinco 1911A1 handgun with serial number BA25849 that was registered to Cameron is missing, said CPS.<\/p>\n

Police say their focus won\u2019t stop at an initial arrest in cases such as Cobb\u2019s murder.<\/p>\n

\u201cWhen information indicates others may have played a role, including facilitating access to firearms, we will continue to pursue those connections and hold everyone involved accountable,\u201d said Staff Sgt. Mike Shute of the homicide unit.<\/p>\n
