No, you didn’t somehow sleep through the remaining seven months of the year and wake up at Christmas: I’m of course referring to Canada’s 100 Best and Canada’s Best New Restaurants season.

Alongside the release of the 2026 Canada’s 100 Best Restaurants list, wherein Jordan Station’s Restaurant Pearl Morissette took the top spot, the coveted list of Canada’s best new restaurants dropped on Monday, May 4, and it should come as little surprise that Toronto restaurants were well represented.

The list, which in 2025 included Toronto’s LSL, Linny’s, and Takja BBQ, is updated annually to celebrate the most dazzling new culinary stars across the country, and this year was no different.

Landing in sixth place, N.L Ginzburg, the latest venture from Bernhardt’s duo, Carmelina Imola and Zachary Kolomeir, was the first Toronto restaurant to earn its spot on the 2026 list.

Not far behind, Sammarco scored a seventh-place finish. A luxe Italian steakhouse concept from Chef Rob Rossi and David Minicucci of Giulietta and Osteria Giulia fame, the sleek restaurant also won a special award for best restaurant design.

Toronto’s entries came in below Vancouver’s Sumibiyaki Arashi in first, Montreal’s Rotisserie La Lune in second, and Montreal’s Limbo in third place.

Given that national travel is seeing a major surge in recent months, the list doesn’t only serve as a guide to prospective international travellers, but also to Canadians looking to do a little bit of trans-Canada culinary tourism.

Here’s the complete 2026 list of Canada’s Best New Restaurants:

Sumibiyaki Arashi, Vancouver
Rotisserie La Lune, Montreal
Limbo, Montreal
June on Cambie, Vancouver
Sushi Nishinokaze, Montreal
N.L.
