Homicide investigators have taken over after a man was shot and killed inside a Surrey business on Monday afternoon.<\/p>\n
Officers from the Surrey Police Service were called to the 13000-block of 76th Avenue around 3 p.m. after calls about a shooting.<\/p>\n
A man was found with gunshot wounds and died while being given medical help by first responders.<\/p>\n
No one has been arrested and a suspect description is not yet available, said Staff Sgt. Lindsey Houghton.<\/p>\n
The Integrated Homicide Investigation Team (IHIT) has taken over and will provide updates, said Houghton.<\/p>\n
Videos posted online by Omni TV reporter Sarbraj Singh Kahlon show the shooting was in the same complex as Radio Swift 1200 AM. The South Asian station was targeted by extortionists<\/a> last September after its hosts discussed the extortions plaguing businesses across the region. Several shots were fired into the studio but no one was there at the time and there were no injuries.<\/p>\n However, Swift host Jinny Sims confirmed to Postmedia that the radio station was not the target on Monday.<\/p>\n \u201cAll we know is that there was a shooting inside on the second floor,\u201d said Sims, who said she is grateful no one from Swift was involved.<\/p>\n \u201cIt\u2019s so shocking for it to happen at three o\u2019clock on a Monday afternoon on a very busy street,\u201d Sims said, adding police would not tell her or any of her colleagues which business the person was killed at.<\/p>\n \u201cIt\u2019s very, very spooky that it happened in the middle of the day and was obviously very targeted.
