TORONTO \u2014 Bell Media was named the Canadian broadcast rights-holder for the WNBA on Tuesday as part of a multi-year agreement that coincides with the Toronto Tempo\u2019s first season in the league. <\/p>\n
TSN will broadcast and stream all Tempo games along with additional regular-season games from around the league, the WNBA all-star game, draft, playoffs and finals, the league said in a release.<\/p>\n
CTV and Crave will also simulcast select Tempo games throughout the season. Toronto will tip off its regular season on Friday against the Washington Mystics at Coca-Cola Coliseum.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe momentum around the WNBA in Canada is at an all-time high, and this partnership represents an important step in providing fans in Canada with unprecedented access to their favourite teams and players at a historic time of the first-ever Canadian team in the WNBA,\u201d said WNBA chief growth officer Colie Edison. <\/p>\n
\u201cTSN shares our commitment to providing fans with best-in-class coverage that will elevate the WNBA and women\u2019s basketball in Canada.\u201d<\/p>\n
Each team will play 44 games. The league\u2019s 30th season will continue through Sept. 24. <\/p>\n
\u201cWith a generation of exciting new stars, the growth of the WNBA continues to be simply phenomenal,\u201d said Bell Media Sports vice-president Shawn Redmond. \u201dIt\u2019s an honour for TSN to showcase the country\u2019s first WNBA team, the Toronto Tempo, for years to come.\u201d<\/p>\n
Details on the agreement weren\u2019t released. Prime Video also has a slate of Tempo and additional WNBA games that will be available in Canada<\/p>\n
The Tempo will have 19 of their games air nationally in the United States as part of the WNBA\u2019s TV schedule in that country. Participating networks include USA, ION, Prime, CBS, NBA TV, Peacock and ESPN.<\/p>\n
