It is the largest that Mexico has ever sent to Canada, though it&#8217;s a truncated version of the trip, which was <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cbc.ca\/news\/world\/mexico-trade-visit-9.7126778\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" data-ylk=\"elm:link;elmt:article_link;slk:originally announced as including Vancouver;itc:0;sec:content-canvas\" data-yga=\"{&quot;yLinkElement&quot;:&quot;context_link&quot;,&quot;yModuleName&quot;:&quot;content-canvas&quot;,&quot;yLinkText&quot;:&quot;originally announced as including Vancouver&quot;}\" class=\"link \">originally announced as including Vancouver<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">A total of 240 Mexican businesses are signed up, with about 1,800 business-to-business meetings already planned, according to Mexico\u2019s Secretariat of Economy.\u00a0The trip comes as both Canada and Mexico look to diversify their trade \u2014 both with each other and with others \u2014 and rely less on the U.S., amid tariff chaos and general global uncertainty.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">\u201cIt\u2019s evident that there\u2019s so much opportunity for Mexico and Canada to collaborate,&#8221; said Fernando Vargas, CEO of Bloom White Label Partners, a digital services company based in Aguascalientes.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">&#8220;We are time zone-aligned, we are in North America and we\u2019re hosting a World Cup together.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">Vargas said his startup currently conducts between 30 to 40 per cent of its business in Canada, and he is hoping the trade mission will lay the foundation for further expansion.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">\u201cIt\u2019s in everyone\u2019s interest to be present elsewhere, and both countries are very interested in working with each other,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">\u201cI think that should continue; that should increase.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><img alt=\"Fernando Vargas, CEO of Bloom White Label Partners, says he hopes Mexico's trade mission to Canada will lay the groundwork for more customers.\" loading=\"lazy\" width=\"960\" height=\"720\" decoding=\"async\" data-nimg=\"1\" class=\"rounded-lg\" style=\"color:transparent\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/canada\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/05\/68c298da8166d0681697c29436aedc96.jpeg\"\/><\/p>\n<p>(Chris Corday\/CBC)<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">During the mission, Mexican Economy Secretary Marcelo Ebrard is also planning to meet with Canada-U.S. Trade Minister Dominic LeBlanc to discuss the pending CUSMA review. Those meetings, which are not designated as official negotiating sessions, are scheduled for Wednesday and Thursday.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">During his time in Canada, he plans to meet with the CEOs of Air Canada, Bombardier, CN Rail and TC Energy, among others. Mexico\u2019s top trade official is also slated to host a meeting between Mexican businesses and Canadian investment funds, including the Ontario Teachers\u2019 Pension Plan, one of the largest in the world.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">&#8220;This is an unprecedented working visit aimed at expanding our investment and trade flow with Canada,&#8221; said Ebrard in a statement.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">Trade keeps rising <\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">Mexico&#8217;s visit follows one of the largest Canadian trade missions ever in February, which touched down in Mexico City, Guadalajara and Monterrey.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">Canada and Mexico recorded about $62 billion in bilateral merchandise trade in 2025.
