The interim manager fully backed his players and the club\u2019s project ahead of Saturday\u2019s Matchday 12 visit to Toronto FC<\/a>\u00a0(1 pm ET | Apple TV<\/a>).\u00a0<\/p>\n

So we have to correct it,\u201d Hoyos told reporters on the eve of Miami\u2019s trip to BMO Field. \u201cThey\u2019re not bad things; they\u2019re specific soccer-related things that happen\u2026 There\u2019s no drama, and that\u2019s what I want to convey: There\u2019s no drama surrounding the loss.\u00a0<\/p>\n

\u201cObviously, it\u2019s a cl\u00e1sico, a derby. But losses help the team to grow.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n Get-right game<\/p>\n

There\u2019s no better time than Saturday to show growth, especially after the 2025 MLS Cup presented by Audi champions suffered perhaps their most painful loss of the season.\u00a0<\/p>\n

After taking a commanding 3-0 lead, the Herons conceded four straight goals to Orlando, in the form of a Mart\u00edn Ojeda<\/a> hat trick and a second-half stoppage-time game-winner from Tyrese Spicer<\/a>. The result dropped Miami to third place in the Eastern Conference and extended their winless streak at their recently christened home, Nu Stadium, to four games (0W-1L-3D).\u00a0<\/p>\n

\u201cI always see the good side, not the bad side. And that good side was, for me, the first half, which was extraordinary,\u201d Hoyos said of the club\u2019s opening 45 minutes against Orlando, which included a 1g\/2a performance from legendary No. 10\u00a0Lionel Messi<\/a>.\u00a0<\/p>\n

“And that leads you to feed off that extraordinary football.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n

Superstar striker Luis Su\u00e1rez<\/a> echoed that sentiment, setting his sights on a get-right performance at BMO Field.\u00a0<\/p>\n

\u201cObviously, a loss like that against an opponent we really wanted to beat at our stadium hurts,\u201d Su\u00e1rez said. \u201cBut that\u2019s part of our profession. We have to keep training, work harder every day, and correct our mistakes so we don\u2019t repeat them.\u00a0<\/p>\n

\u201cWe have to try to approach Saturday\u2019s game in Toronto with the same energy we played the first 45 minutes the other day, which were very good.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n Wounded opponent<\/p>\n

Miami will face a Toronto side that\u2019s looking for a statement result of their own, as they seek to close out a 10-game home stand on a high note amid a six-match winless streak across all competitions.<\/p>\n

That includes a shock 3-1 midweek defeat<\/a> to Canadian Premier League Atl\u00e9tico Ottawa which eliminated the Reds from the 2026 Canadian Championship<\/a>.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Add injuries to high-profile stars like club-record signing Josh Sargent<\/a>, USMNT midfielder Djordje Mihailovic<\/a>\u00a0and Canadian international Richie Laryea<\/a>, and Toronto appear arguably more vulnerable than the Herons right now.\u00a0<\/p>\n

\u201cWe\u2019ve seen a united group, and that\u2019s the most important thing,\u201d Hoyos told IMCF media. \u201cAnd it allows us to move on from this loss as quickly as possible to try to focus on the goals we set for ourselves at the beginning of the season.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n

Without confirming a starting lineup for Saturday, Hoyos suggested that his first-choice XI will take the field against Toronto.\u00a0<\/p>\n

\u201cWhen Inter play with Leo [Messi], Rodri [De Paul], Luis [Su\u00e1rez] and all their stars, it\u2019s truly something impactful for the fans and for the kids,” Hoyos said.<\/p>\n
