Game 5 of the Professional Women\u2019s Hockey League semifinal between the Montreal Victoire and the Minnesota Frost has been postponed for what the league calls \u201cplayer safety concerns related to illness.\u201d<\/p>\n

The league made the announcement hours before the opening faceoff on Monday and said a rescheduled date will be announced soon.<\/p>\n

In a release, the league did not detail the nature of the illnesses that caused the postponement, but said a medical assessment determined that the symptoms are not consistent with hantavirus.<\/p>\n

The rodent-borne disease has drawn attention in recent days after several Canadians were identified as contacts linked to a deadly outbreak aboard an Antarctic cruise ship, though no Canadian cases have been confirmed.<\/p>\n

The PWHL said an update will be provided within a day. The league said tickets for the game will be honoured on the rescheduled date. Information on obtaining refunds will come at a later time.<\/p>\n

The best-of-five series is tied 2-2. The Victoire are looking for their first playoff series win, while the Frost won the Walter Cup in each of the league\u2019s first two seasons.<\/p>\n

The winner of the series faces the Ottawa Charge in the final.
