{"id":43786,"date":"2026-05-13T18:38:07","date_gmt":"2026-05-13T18:38:07","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/canada\/43786\/"},"modified":"2026-05-13T18:38:07","modified_gmt":"2026-05-13T18:38:07","slug":"student-academy-awards-will-be-held-at-2026-toronto-film-festival","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/canada\/43786\/","title":{"rendered":"Student Academy Awards Will Be Held at 2026 Toronto Film Festival"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/  a-font-body-m     \">\n\tThe 2026 Student Academy <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hollywoodreporter.com\/t\/awards\/\" id=\"auto-tag_awards_1\" data-tag=\"awards\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Awards<\/a> ceremony will take place in Canada as part of the Toronto International Film Festival, the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences announced on Wednesday.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/  a-font-body-m     \">\n\tThe annual event, which recognizes films made by full-time and part-time undergraduate and graduate students who have completed an intermediate-level or final graduation film as part of their coursework, was long held in Los Angeles, but since the pandemic it has emanated from London, in 2024, and New York, in 2025.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/  a-font-body-m     \">\n\tThis year, on Sept. 14, it will take place in the hub of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hollywoodreporter.com\/t\/tiff\/\" id=\"auto-tag_tiff_1\" data-tag=\"tiff\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">TIFF<\/a>, the TIFF Lightbox complex. And thanks to a partnership with the festival, Student Academy Award winners will have access to attend the fest\u2019s screenings, market, education panels and networking opportunities.<\/p>\n<p>Academy CEO Bill Kramer and president Lynette Howell Taylor said in a statement: \u201cAs the Academy becomes increasingly global, we are delighted to bring this year\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hollywoodreporter.com\/t\/student-academy-awards\/\" id=\"auto-tag_student-academy-awards_1\" data-tag=\"student-academy-awards\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Student Academy Awards<\/a> to TIFF. These filmmakers are the future of our industry, and we are thrilled to platform their work at this important international festival. All Student Academy Award-winning films will be eligible to compete for the 99th Oscars in the short films categories \u2014\u00a0best animated short, best documentary short or best live action short.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/  a-font-body-m     \">\n\tThe Student Academy Awards was established in 1972 to provide a platform for emerging global talent by creating opportunities within the industry to showcase their work.
