One of Calgary’s most popular outdoor food festivals is back. Brewery & the Beast<\/a> returns to The Confluence on Sunday, August 23, bringing together more than 60 chefs and restaurants from Calgary and Banff for an afternoon of live-fire cooking, craft drinks, and live music along the riverfront.<\/p>\n

The all-you-can-enjoy format means guests can work their way through dishes from a roster that includes River Caf\u00e9, Major Tom, Shokunin, Posto Pizzeria, Rodney’s Oyster House, and dozens more \u2014 all cooked over open fire and made with proteins sourced from farms and ranches across B.C., Alberta, and Saskatchewan. General admission tickets include food, non-alcoholic drinks, and eight alcoholic beverage tickets; VIP tickets bump that to ten and get you in an hour early at 1:00 p.m.<\/p>\n

The festival has quietly built a community component into its DNA since launching in 2012, raising over $185,000 for culinary scholarships, mental health initiatives, and food security programs \u2014 making it one of those rare events where the cause is as much a draw as the food.<\/p>\n

Dog Days brings Calgary’s first hot dog festival this spring<\/p>\n

Calgary is getting its first-ever hot dog festival this spring, and it comes with a good cause attached. Dog Days<\/a> runs from May 23 to June 6 at participating restaurants across the city, with $1 from every Dog Days hot dog sold going directly to the Pet Access League Society (PALS), a Calgary nonprofit that sends trained volunteers and therapy pets to over 55 facilities \u2014 including all Calgary hospitals, care facilities, schools, libraries, and emergency and domestic violence centres.<\/p>\n

The roster is still growing, but already includes some well-known Calgary spots: Pigeonhole, Clive Burger, Lulu Bar, Good Cheer Brewing, Boogie’s Burgers, Bastion Burger, and Hi5 Burger, among others. Each participating restaurant will put their own spin on the Dog Days hot dog, making it a good excuse to work your way around the city over the two weeks.<\/p>\n

The festival is organized by Press & Post, a Calgary events company, and kicks off with a launch party at the dog-friendly Cold Garden brewery on May 23. More details on participating restaurants and special events will be announced on Instagram at @dogdaysyyc.<\/p>\n
