{"id":45601,"date":"2026-05-14T21:27:06","date_gmt":"2026-05-14T21:27:06","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/canada\/45601\/"},"modified":"2026-05-14T21:27:06","modified_gmt":"2026-05-14T21:27:06","slug":"whats-open-and-closed-on-victoria-day-long-weekend-in-the-greater-toronto-area","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/canada\/45601\/","title":{"rendered":"What\u2019s open and closed on Victoria Day long weekend in the Greater Toronto Area"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Warmer temperatures are welcoming the Victoria Day long weekend in Toronto this year, but with the holiday comes some closures residents should be aware of before stepping out into the sun.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/weather.gc.ca\/en\/location\/index.html?coords=43.655,-79.383\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer nofollow\">Environment Canada<\/a> is predicting some sun and cloud, with a high of 27 C and a low of 17 C.<\/p>\n<p>While many will take the opportunity to unwind, it\u2019s important to note that some businesses and services in the region may be operating on holiday hours.<\/p>\n<p>Here\u2019s a breakdown of what will be open and closed in Toronto on May 18.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Transit<\/p>\n<p>On Monday, GO Transit will be operating on a Saturday schedule. For more information on holiday schedules, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.gotransit.com\/en\/see-schedules\/holiday-schedules\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer nofollow\">click here<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Holiday service will operate for the TTC on Victoria Day, meaning commuters can expect all routes to operate on their Sunday service schedules, but with an earlier start of around 6 a.m.<\/p>\n<p>The Line 6 Finch West will be closed the entire long weekend for infrastructure and system upgrades. The closure will begin Friday and last until Monday.<\/p>\n<p>Overnight service will also be available with the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ttc.ca\/routes-and-schedules\/336\/0\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer nofollow\">336 Finch West bus<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Grocery and alcohol<\/p>\n<p>Select LCBOs and Beer Stores are open on Monday. Use the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.lcbo.com\/en\/stores\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer nofollow\">LCBO store locator<\/a> or the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thebeerstore.ca\/locations\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer nofollow\">Beer Store locator<\/a> to find the closest one to you.<\/p>\n<p>Most chain grocery stores in Toronto will be closed on Victoria Day, while smaller independent stores may choose to stay open following the latest legislation change.<\/p>\n<p>The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ontario.ca\/laws\/statute\/90r30\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer nofollow\">Retail Business Holiday Act<\/a> was passed in April, allowing any store to choose to remain open on Family Day and Victoria Day.<\/p>\n<p>Government services<\/p>\n<p>All federal, provincial and municipal government offices will be closed on Monday for the statutory holiday.<\/p>\n<p>Banks will be closed on Monday so be sure to visit if you need to ahead of time.<\/p>\n<p>Passport services and Service Canada offices will also be closed as will all Toronto Public Library locations.<\/p>\n<p>Shopping and attractions<\/p>\n<p>Some family-friendly spots are still open around the city on Monday.<\/p>\n<p>The CN Tower, Ripley\u2019s Aquarium, the Toronto Zoo, Royal Ontario Museum, and the Art Gallery of Ontario are open for visitors to explore their unique exhibits.<\/p>\n<p>Most smaller malls are closed on Monday, with the CF Toronto Eaton Centre, CF Markville, Vaughan Mills, Square One, Toronto Premium Outlets, Yorkdale Shopping Centre, Bramalea City Centre, Dufferin Mall, and Scarborough Town Centre being the exceptions.<\/p>\n<p>The Shops at Pickering City Centre, and Oshawa Centre are closed.<\/p>\n<p>Community centres\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Most community recreation centres and ice rinks will remain open Monday, including Nathan Phillips Square.
