Schools of eager fans watched as the CN Tower was bathed in an icy blue glow Thursday, making it look as if it were encased in ice to promote the album’s release.<\/p>\n
A livestream leading up to the project’s release opened with a track from “Iceman,” and featured Drake reflecting on the past couple of years following his high-profile feud with L.A. rapper Kendrick Lamar.<\/p>\n
On the song, he shares that his father, Dennis Graham, has been diagnosed with cancer.<\/p>\n
Near the end of a livestream, a caption appeared announcing that two more projects \u2014 “Habibti” and “Maid of Honour” \u2014 would also be released.<\/p>\n
The event capped off a weeks-long, headline-grabbing album-release campaign that saw the rapper erect massive ice blocks in a downtown Toronto parking lot with the release date for “Iceman” hidden inside.<\/p>\n
Music experts commend Drake for the innovative album promotion cycle. But they theorize that since he lost the rap beef with Lamar, he needs to release an album of some critical merit with some hits.<\/p>\n
If not, they say “Iceman” may still top the charts, but it won’t further bolster his reputation in hip-hop.<\/p>\n
