(iStock)<\/p>\n<p><a target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\" href=\"http:\/\/www.foxnews.com\/outkick-culture\">CLICK HERE FOR MORE OUTKICK CULTURE COVERAGE<\/a><\/p>\n<p>The Sex Work Autonomous Committee (SWAC) is hoping to use the uptick in business that has traditionally come with an <a target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\" href=\"https:\/\/www.foxnews.com\/outkick-sports\/youll-never-believe-how-much-hot-dogs-f1-miami-grand-prix-going\">F1 weekend<\/a> to make a statement as the strippers fight to be treated as employees, which comes with a certain set of rights.<\/p>\n<p>At the moment, strippers are treated as independent contractors, like plumbers.<\/p>\n<p>Their words, not mine.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;As strippers, we are considered independent contractors, this \u200bmeans that on paper we are treated the same as, say, an independent \u200cplumber \u2060that you would hire for your home repairs,&#8221; a SWAC statement reads, per <a target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\" href=\"https:\/\/www.reuters.com\/business\/world-at-work\/montreal-strippers-plan-strike-formula-one-weekend-2026-05-15\/\">Reuters<\/a>. &#8220;The independent contractor plumber is responsible to no one but themself, while the independent contractor stripper is responsible \u200bto club management, \u200bat the \u2060expense of their job.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p> <img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/canada\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/05\/f1-flag.jpeg\" alt=\"Formula 1 flag\" width=\"1200\" height=\"675\"\/> <\/p>\n<p>Formula 1 races can impact local economies in ways you may have never thought of. DOWNLOAD NOW!<\/a><\/p>\n<p>I mean&#8230; I can see where they&#8217;re coming from.<\/p>\n<p>And what better way to draw attention to the plight of Montreal strippers than by striking on their biggest weekend of the year?<\/p>\n<p>It&#8217;s already working. I&#8217;ve never been to Montreal, but I&#8217;m already way more informed about the nature of stripper employment than I ever thought I&#8217;d be.<\/p>\n<p>Using a sporting event and the business that comes with it to draw attention to a labor dispute is pretty common.<\/p>\n<p> <img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/canada\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/05\/canadian-grand-prix-2025.jpeg\" alt=\"Canadian Grand Prix 2025\" width=\"1200\" height=\"675\"\/> <\/p>\n<p>A visit from Formula 1 has apparently been a good thing for strip clubs in Montreal over the years.
