GATINEAU, QC, May 19, 2026 \/CNW\/ – The Canadian Radio-television and Telecommunications Commission (CRTC)<\/p>\n

officials will hold a virtual technical briefing to discuss the CRTC’s\u00a0ongoing\u00a0work\u00a0to implement the\u00a0modernized Broadcasting Act.\u00a0The briefing will\u00a0cover decisions related to the creation and distribution of Canadian programming in the audio-visual sector, as well as the discoverability of Canadian and Indigenous content.<\/p>\n

Once registration is confirmed,\u00a0the Microsoft Teams link\u00a0will be distributed by email\u00a0before\u00a01:00\u00a0p.m. EDT\u00a0on\u00a0May\u00a021, 2026.<\/p>\n

Media who agree to the embargo will receive\u00a0documents\u00a0under embargo at 2:00\u00a0p.m. EDT\u00a0on\u00a0May 21, 2026, via Microsoft Teams.<\/p>\n

A formal media briefing will begin at 3:30 p.m. and journalists will have the opportunity to pose questions to CRTC officials on a for attribution basis. Media representatives are asked not to rebroadcast this briefing in whole or in part.<\/p>\n

By\u00a0participating, media understand and agree to the terms of the embargo. The\u00a0embargo on the documents and information provided will remain in effect until lifted by CRTC officials. Participants will not publicly discuss or release the materials or information in any manner, including seeking comment from industry representatives,\u00a0and social media until the embargo is lifted.<\/p>\n

Should the terms of the embargo be breached, participants and\/or their organizations may not be\u00a0permitted\u00a0to\u00a0participate\u00a0in future\u00a0CRTC embargoed briefings.<\/p>\n
