The agreement was formalized through a Memorandum of Understanding, as stated in a May 20, 2026 press release.<\/p>\n<p>The project aims to test GeoRedox&#8217;s proprietary technology for producing zero-carbon hydrogen from ultramafic rock formations. This rock type is the same geology underlying more than twenty of Canada Nickel&#8217;s projects in the Timmins Nickel District. The initiative is positioned as a foundational step toward establishing a zero-carbon industrial cluster in Northeast Ontario.<\/p>\n<p>GeoRedox will fully fund the demonstration program. Canada Nickel will contribute site access, rock samples, technical expertise, data, and other resources required for planning and implementation at Crawford. The demonstration represents the first phase of a program that, if successful, could provide a large-scale, carbon-free hydrogen supply for the envisioned industrial cluster.<\/p>\n<p>Robert Stoner, President of GeoRedox, noted that hydrogen is widely used in metals production, making the company a natural partner for the mining industry. He expressed enthusiasm about working with a mining company committed to industrial decarbonization and environmental stewardship, and highlighted the Crawford site as an ideal real-world setting to validate the technology alongside a world-class mining operation.<\/p>\n<p>Mark Selby, CEO of Canada Nickel, stated that the ultramafic rock hosting the Crawford deposit and the company&#8217;s other projects is exactly the geology for which GeoRedox&#8217;s technology is designed. He described the partnership as a significant step closer to a Zero-Carbon Industrial Cluster in Northeast Ontario that would convert concentrates into finished critical mineral products including nickel, chromium, and cobalt, while leveraging the region&#8217;s carbon storage capacity.<\/p>\n<p>Once constructed and operational, Crawford\u2014located in Ontario&#8217;s Critical Minerals Corridor\u2014is expected to rank among the largest nickel sulphide projects in the Western world and among the lowest-carbon nickel operations globally. The project&#8217;s ultramafic geology makes it a natural site for the demonstration program.<\/p>\n<p>Stephen J. Balch, P.Geo.
