{"id":58200,"date":"2026-05-24T00:35:06","date_gmt":"2026-05-24T00:35:06","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/canada\/58200\/"},"modified":"2026-05-24T00:35:06","modified_gmt":"2026-05-24T00:35:06","slug":"hundreds-of-supporters-gather-for-forever-canadian-office-opening","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/canada\/58200\/","title":{"rendered":"Hundreds of supporters gather for Forever Canadian office opening"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">Elbows were definitely up as hundreds of Albertans came out to support the launch of the Forever Canadian office in northwest Edmonton in a cross-partisan showing of support for staying part of Canada.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">Following a morning pro-Canada parade in St. Albert, the Unity Bus stopped at the just-opened Forever Canadian office at 16815 117 Avenue. While the industrial park road is wide enough for semi-trucks to pass each other, the street was packed with dedicated Canadians from wall to wall, who overwhelmed the new office and the rally was required to move outside for speeches.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">\u201cThis shows you how passionate Albertans are about being Canadian,\u201d\u00a0said Forever Canadian founder and former deputy premier Thomas Lukaszuk. \u201cIt has nothing to do with where we live, but who we are.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">\u201cVoter turnout will be key. As we know, separatists now have a list of electors they are using. We\u2019re asking all supporters to sign up so we can be in touch with them. As long as we\u2019re all rowing in the same direction, we can bring out all our supporters. Several members of the Alberta NDP caucus, which has launched its own door-to-door <a href=\"https:\/\/foralbertaforcanada.ca\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" data-ylk=\"elm:link;elmt:article_link;slk:For Alberta, For Canada;itc:0;sec:content-canvas\" data-yga=\"{&quot;yLinkElement&quot;:&quot;context_link&quot;,&quot;yModuleName&quot;:&quot;content-canvas&quot;,&quot;yLinkText&quot;:&quot;For Alberta, For Canada&quot;}\" class=\"link \">For Alberta, For Canada<\/a> campaign, were on hand to show their support for Lukaszuk\u2019s work.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">NDP deputy leader Rakhi Pancholi said the two campaigns will complement each other and encouraged Albertans to sign up to \u201cas many campaigns as they can\u201d to keep up to date on the real battle of Alberta.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">\u201cI think we should all work together as much as possible,\u201d she said. \u201cMany of the people here are supporters of our party but there\u2019s also supporters of other parties and that\u2019s a wonderful thing. We should all be going out there together and fighting for Canada.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">She added it was \u201cappalling\u201d the government was focusing on referendums when so much of the public service in need of funding.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">\u201cI have three schools that have gone to a lottery because there are kids doing chemistry labs in the hallways,\u201d said Pancholi. \u201cThis not a fiscally responsible government. They have their own pet projects and they\u2019re using taxpayer dollars to pay for it.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">While no members of the United Conservative Party were present, conservatives who identify as Canadians were out in droves to show their support as well. Several former members of the now-defunct Progressive Conservative party were on hand to show their support for the effort.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">Progressive Tory candidate Bonnie Critchley said being Canadian means far more than being a conservative, liberal or social democrat.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">\u201cI spent 22-plus years serving this country,\u201d she said. \u201cI have been all over this country and the world. Alberta is home, Canada is home \u2014 and they are one in the same.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">\u201cI will stand side by side with the NDP and anybody else and support Mr. Lukazsuk. This is non-partisan, this is home. This is our country.
