The Austin FC<\/a> winger made the most of his opportunity off the bench for Canada<\/a>, rounding out a 2-0 victory<\/a> over Uzbekistan at rainy Commonwealth Stadium in their penultimate tune-up match ahead of co-hosting this summer\u2019s tournament.<\/p>\n

Nelson, who didn\u2019t make head coach Jesse Marsch\u2019s 26-man roster<\/a>, is nonetheless helping Les Rogues prepare in the lead-up to their Group A opener on June 12 against Bosnia & Herzegovina at Toronto FC<\/a>\u2019s BMO Field.\u00a0<\/p>\n

However, his 91st-minute strike could potentially help him crack the CanMNT\u2019s final squad as an injury replacement for midfielder Marcelo Flores. The Tigres UANL midfielder tore his ACL in Saturday’s Concacaf Champions Cup<\/a> final loss to LIGA MX rivals Deportivo Toluca.<\/p>\n

Nelson wasn’t the only potential injury replacement who looked sharp on Monday.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Former Vancouver Whitecaps FC<\/a> teammate Ralph Priso<\/a> also stood out with an impressive display at left back, despite normally playing center back at his club.\u00a0<\/p>\n

“I thought that both Ralph and Jayden delivered very good performances,” Marsch told reporters post-match. “So that was good for them for sure.\u00a0<\/p>\n

“But in general I think we have a really good squad, like a really good team, and we’re excited.”<\/p>\n
