{"id":70903,"date":"2026-06-02T07:02:08","date_gmt":"2026-06-02T07:02:08","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/canada\/70903\/"},"modified":"2026-06-02T07:02:08","modified_gmt":"2026-06-02T07:02:08","slug":"robinhood-enters-canada-after-closing-wonderfi-acquisition","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/canada\/70903\/","title":{"rendered":"Robinhood enters Canada after closing WonderFi acquisition"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Robinhood completed its <a href=\"https:\/\/robinhood.com\/us\/en\/newsroom\/robinhood-enters-canada-completes-acquisition-wonderfi\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">acquisition of WonderFi<\/a> on Monday after the Canadian digital asset firm <a href=\"https:\/\/cryptobriefing.com\/robinhood-wonderfi-acquisition-canada\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">secured<\/a> the necessary approval from the Canadian Investment Regulatory Organization (CIRO).<\/p>\n<p>The transaction gives Robinhood an established foothold in Canada and enables it to offer regulated crypto products to customers nationwide. The deal also pushes the company\u2019s international funded customer base beyond 1 million, including approximately 300,000 funded customers from WonderFi.<\/p>\n<p>Robinhood will continue to serve WonderFi\u2019s institutional clients, complementing the institutional capabilities it has developed through Bitstamp. WonderFi employees will join Robinhood\u2019s Canadian operations.<\/p>\n<p>Since opening its Toronto headquarters in 2024, Robinhood has made investments in Canada as a key engineering and technology hub. Johann Kerbrat, SVP and General Manager of Robinhood Crypto &amp; International, said WonderFi\u2019s track record serving a broad range of crypto investors makes it a valuable addition to Robinhood\u2019s expanding international business.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe\u2019re pleased to have closed our acquisition and look forward to delivering innovative, user-centric investing products to Canadian customers,\u201d Kerbrat said.<\/p>\n<p>WonderFi manages more than C$2.1 billion in assets under custody and operates Bitbuy and Coinsquare, two regulated crypto platforms that rank among Canada\u2019s largest digital asset businesses.<\/p>\n<p>Following the completion of the transaction, Bitbuy and Coinsquare platforms will become part of the Robinhood brand. Canadian users will be invited to access the Robinhood app, benefiting from a flat 0.5% fee per CAD trade, an intuitive user experience, and the company\u2019s global technological infrastructure.<\/p>\n<p>                        Disclosure: This article was edited by Vivian Nguyen.
