The song that plays during the end credits of horror hit Backrooms<\/a> has been revealed to be from the new album by Scottish electronic duo Boards Of Canada<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The A24 movie, about a psychiatrist searching for her client through a series of parallel dimensions known as \u201cthe Backrooms\u201d, has been an enormous hit, scoring the studio\u2019s biggest weekend with $81.4million (\u00a360.4million) in the US and $117.9 million (\u00a387.5million) worldwide.<\/p>\n

Now, it\u2019s emerged that the haunting track that plays over director Kane Parsons\u2019 film comes from Boards Of Canada\u2019s new album, \u2018Inferno\u2019.<\/p>\n

Released on the same day as the movie, it\u2019s the duo\u2019s first release since 2013\u2019s \u2018Tomorrow\u2019s Harvest\u2019. The track used by Backrooms is \u2018The Word Becomes Flesh\u2019, a haunting track that fits with the ominous themes of the movie. Listen to it in full below.<\/p>\n

Parsons spoke to GQ<\/a> recently about the influences for the film, and name-checked the band as one of the inspirations for the score. Elsewhere, he also spoke about drawing heavily from video game Portal<\/a>, saying that he frequently has dreams where he is in the game.<\/p>\n

NME\u2019s four-star review of the film concluded<\/a>: \u201cBackrooms\u2019 vibes-based momentum won\u2019t be to everyone\u2019s taste. For some there\u2019ll be too much explanation and for others, too little. But it\u2019s an intriguing, memorable creation with the power to rattle, as Parsons lurks in the intersection between dread and delirium. Well worth exploring.\u201d<\/p>\n

Plans are already in place for a sequel to the film<\/a>, while the 20-year-old director has spoken out about claims the film was \u201cghost directed\u201d<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The movie\u2019s success comes alongside fellow A24 horror Obsession<\/a>, continuing a revolution in the genre that began last year with box office hits like Sinners<\/a>, Weapons<\/a>, and The Conjuring: Last Rites.
