Motorists are being advised to check their journey routes as a city prepares for multiple road closures for planned works.<\/p>\n
Peterborough City Council has served notice that roads in north, south and central parts of the city will be closed off for works including ducting, cabling, and pipe repairs.<\/p>\n
Diversions are being offered for some of the closures, but in other cases, there are no alternative routes.<\/p>\n
The village of Newborough will also see restrictions to its main thoroughfare.<\/p>\n
The council gave these details of the various closures, according to the Local Democracy Reporting Service<\/a>:<\/p>\n Cranemore, Werrington<\/p>\n From Monday 20 April, vehicles will be forbidden from travelling along Cranemore in Werrington.<\/p>\n This is to allow ducting works to be carried out between house numbers 17 to 52 and 37 to 47.<\/p>\n There is no alternative route in place for vehicles, as the roadworks are taking place on a residential street with cul-de-sacs.<\/p>\n The council estimates restrictions will continue until Friday 24 April, but will confirm the dates on site.<\/p>\n Parliament Street, Millfield<\/p>\n From Tuesday 21 April, no traffic will be allowed to proceed along Parliament Street.<\/p>\n Motorists can use Searjeant Street, Harris Street, Lincoln Road and Windmill Street instead.<\/p>\n The closure, for pipe repair works, is expected to last for one day, until Wednesday 22 April.<\/p>\n Oxney Road, Parnwell<\/p>\n Vehicles will be prohibited from using the dead end section of Oxney Road from the junction with Eyebury Road.<\/p>\n The closure begins on Thursday 23 April and is likely to continue until the following day.<\/p>\n This is to allow water connection works to be carried out.<\/p>\n The council said there were no alternative routes for vehicles, but residents would be able to access their properties.<\/p>\n Thorney Road, Newborough<\/p>\n Overnight cabling works will see Thorney Road in Newborough closed off from Crowland Road on Monday 20 April.<\/p>\n The works are scheduled to start at 21:00 BST and finish at 06:00 the following morning.<\/p>\n A diversion will be in place along the A16, B1040 and B1443.<\/p>\n Do you have a story suggestion for Peterborough?
