Both Calgary\u2019s Bow River and Elbow River are experiencing high river flow resulting in pathway closures due to flooding and a restriction on boating in the two rivers. Both rivers are expected to peak today, according to a report provided by the City of Calgary<\/a>.\u00a0<\/p>\n

No severe flooding is expected in the Calgary area while city storm water crews are ready to respond if the flooding does worsen.<\/p>\n

The report details that a cold wet front resulted in an average of 90mm of rain between both river catchments, with an average of 70-110mm of rain in Calgary alone since Saturday.\u00a0<\/p>\n

The rain is expected to lessen today and continue lessening towards the end of the week, while city officials work with Environment and Climate Change Canada and the Alberta River Forecast Centre to evaluate river and weather patterns for Calgary and the surrounding area.<\/p>\n

The report also urges Calgarians to stay clear of riverbanks as the high flows can cause instability and erosion.<\/p>\n

The next update on the river flooding from the City of Calgary will be tomorrow, Wednesday, June 3, 2026.<\/p>\n
