A look at Friday\u2019s Edmonton weather from Environment Canada<\/a>.<\/p>\n

It\u2019s currently 16.3 C at the Edmonton Blatchford weather station with 6 km\/h winds out of the southwest.<\/p>\n

Alright, Edmonton, let\u2019s do this. Our first real thunderstorm of the season (potentially). Who\u2019s ready? I know I sure am.<\/p>\n

At 8:32 a.m., Environment Canada issued a Yellow Severe Thunderstorm watch<\/a> calling for severe thunderstorms to develop later this morning.<\/p>\n

\u201cThese thunderstorms may be capable of producing strong wind gusts, large hail and heavy rain. Thunderstorms will persist into the evening,\u201d reads the warning.<\/p>\n

\u201cHeavy rain can cause flash flooding and significant reductions to visibility. Strong wind gusts can damage trees, buildings and overturn vehicles. Large hail can cause significant damage and injury. Severe thunderstorm watches are issued when conditions are favourable for the development of thunderstorms capable of producing damaging hail, wind or rain.\u201d<\/p>\n

The thunderstorm watch covers much of central and east Alberta, including communities like St. Paul, Bonnyville, Wainwright and Lac La Biche to the east, and stretching south to include Red Deer, Ponoka, Innisfail and Stettler.<\/p>\n
