Ottawa\u2019s Alanis Morissette has been chosen to perform Canada\u2019s national anthem at Friday\u2019s opening ceremony before the first 2026 World Cup match at Toronto Stadium (BMO Field), which will see the Canadian team<\/a> playing Bosnia and Herzegovina.<\/p>\n

Also performing are fellow Canadians Michael Buble, Alessia Cara, Jessie Reyez, William Prince, Nora Fatehi, Sanjoy, Vegedream and Elyanna, while making an appearance will be FIFA World Cup 2026 Ambassador and Canadian actor Will Arnett (Arrested Development).<\/p>\n

\u201cThe special performances will form part of the FIFA World Cup 2026 ceremonies, a celebration inspired by Canada\u2019s communities, rich diversity and the unifying power of football,\u201d said FIFA World Cup organizers in its news release.<\/p>\n

The pre-match ceremony starts at 1:30 p.m. (TSN) before the 3 p.m. game, the first of six<\/a> that Toronto is hosting.<\/p>\n

Fans told to arrive early\u00a0<\/p>\n

Fans at the stadium will play an active role in the show and are being told to arrive as early as 11 a.m. with gates opening four hours prior to kick-off.<\/p>\n

On offer at the site will be a full suite of experiences including exclusive activations, rewards and pre-match entertainment.<\/p>\n

Subject to availability, match tickets and hospitality packages for the tournament can be found at FIFA.com\/tickets, the official and preferred source for FIFA World Cup 2026 tickets, and fans should check the site regularly for additional tickets that are made available on an ongoing basis.<\/p>\n

Additionally, the official Resale\/Exchange Marketplace is also available at FIFA.com\/tickets for eligible ticket holders.<\/p>\n
