Clio announced the acquisition of Jurisage, a Canadian legal AI and data company whose platform includes one of the country\u2019s most extensive AI-ready legal datasets. The deal is intended to strengthen Clio\u2019s capabilities in Canada and accelerate the development of legal AI tools tailored to Canadian legal professionals.<\/p>\n
The acquisition combines Jurisage\u2019s structured legal data and expertise with Clio\u2019s Intelligent Legal Work Platform. Clio said the transaction represents a foundational investment in the future of legal AI in Canada and is aimed at supporting legal workflows spanning research, strategy, drafting, client service, and matter management.<\/p>\n
According to research conducted by Clio, Canadian legal professionals rank among the most active adopters of AI globally. The company said 60% of Canadian law firms actively encourage the use of AI, while approximately two-thirds report that AI has had a positive impact on revenue. Canada also ranks second globally in overall AI adoption among legal professionals, trailing only Australia.<\/p>\n
Founded in 2016 by Aaron Wenner and Ariel Nacson, Jurisage and its CiteRight litigation drafting platform have developed one of Canada\u2019s largest AI-ready legal databases. The platform contains more than 470,000 Canadian court decisions across more than 40 courts and is updated daily. Jurisage\u2019s technology and legal data infrastructure are used by some of the country\u2019s largest law firms.<\/p>\n
Clio said the acquisition will accelerate the Canadian launch of Clio Work, the company\u2019s AI platform designed to help legal professionals understand matters, develop legal strategies, and draft documents. Clio Work has become the company\u2019s fastest-growing product globally, and the addition of Jurisage\u2019s Canadian legal content is expected to enable the platform\u2019s launch in Canada later this year.<\/p>\n
Founded in Canada, Clio serves more than 400,000 legal professionals in over 130 countries. The company said the acquisition marks the first step in a broader, long-term commitment to developing Canadian legal AI capabilities.<\/p>\n
As part of the transaction, Jurisage co-founder Aaron Wenner will join Clio as Manager of Canadian Content Strategy.<\/p>\n
