A 38-year-old cyclist is in critical condition after being struck by two drivers in the Hochelaga-Maisonneuve borough. The incident occured on Tuesday afternoon, just before 4 p.m., according to <a href=\"https:\/\/montreal.citynews.ca\/2026\/06\/10\/cyclist-hit-two-vehicles-hochelaga\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">CityNews<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>According to Montreal police, the rider was hit at the intersection of Davidson and Notre-Dame streets.<\/p>\n<p>Investigators believe the cyclist was first hit by one driver and thrown to the ground. Then he was being struck by a second motorist travelling north on Davidson Street.<\/p>\n<p>The man was taken to hospital with life-threatening injuries, according to CityNews.<\/p>\n<p>Neither of the drivers involved was injured in the incident.<\/p>\n<p>Cycling in Montreal<\/p>\n<p>The news comes amid ongoing debates about Montreal\u2019s cycling infrastructure. After a decade of expansion of bike lanes under former mayor Val\u00e9rie Plante, the new administration has been aiming to remove or cancel future projects.<\/p>\n<p>In April, <a href=\"https:\/\/cyclingmagazine.ca\/sections\/news\/montreal-pauses-bike-lane-expansion-after-mayor-previously-dismissed-reports\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">the city put a planned R\u00e9seau express v\u00e9lo (REV) extension on hold.<\/a> That was days after Mayor Soraya Martinez Ferrada dismissed reports the project had stalled, according to the <a href=\"https:\/\/montrealgazette.com\/news\/rev-protected-bike-lane-lacordaire-extension-suspended\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Montreal Gazette.<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s an enormous loss if they don\u2019t do it. We have no other options,\u201d Jean-Fran\u00e7ois Gagn\u00e9 of the Association pour la mobilit\u00e9 s\u00e9curitaire de Montr\u00e9al-Nord said. \u201cThere are people working on these projects, people who invest their time and energy, and then, at the last minute, they get called off.
