(Photo by Charles Sykes\/Invision\/AP)<\/p>\n<p> (AP Photo\/Charles Sykes)<\/p>\n<p>Former Canada Prime Minister Justin Trudeau attended the United States&#8217; World Cup opener against Paraguay on Friday at Inglewood, California, rather than his own nation&#8217;s game vs. Bosnia-Herzegovina in Toronto.<\/p>\n<p>Trudeau said he made the decision because his girlfriend, Katy Perry, performed in the pregame show before the match at SoFi Stadium.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Sometimes supportive boyfriend duties call. But you know who I&#8217;m rooting for to take the Cup,&#8221; <a data-ylk=\"slk:he wrote on X;elm:context_link;itc:0;sec:content-canvas;\" href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/JustinTrudeau\/status\/2065977680814543297\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer nofollow\" target=\"_blank\">he wrote on X<\/a> on Saturday.<\/p>\n<p>Trudeau was Canada&#8217;s prime minister from 2015-25.<\/p>\n<p>Canada, the U.S. and Mexico are co-hosting this year&#8217;s World Cup.
