police say driver was speeding with child on floor"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"c-paragraph\">A driver from Alberta faces multiple charges after Ontario Provincial Police say officers stopped a vehicle on Highway 17 and found two children improperly secured \u2014 including one seated on the floor.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">Police said the officers were conducting traffic enforcement on Highway 17 in <a href=\"https:\/\/maps.app.goo.gl\/pKWZtQyRhkmF2SvJ9\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/maps.app.goo.gl\/pKWZtQyRhkmF2SvJ9\">Algoma Mills<\/a> within <a href=\"https:\/\/maps.app.goo.gl\/x5M4dpKvjaCTVSiJA\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/maps.app.goo.gl\/x5M4dpKvjaCTVSiJA\">North Shore Township<\/a> shortly after 8 p.m. on June 10 when the incident occurred.<\/p>\n<p>Speeding stop<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">\u201cPolice observed a westbound vehicle travelling at a high rate of speed between <a href=\"https:\/\/maps.app.goo.gl\/3VMAzS9fvitpYLJV9\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/maps.app.goo.gl\/3VMAzS9fvitpYLJV9\">Lauzon Village Road and Highway 538<\/a> and conducted a traffic stop,\u201d OPP said in a news release.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">Police said that while speaking with the driver, officers observed that two children were not properly secured in the vehicle, including one child who was seated on the floor.<\/p>\n<p>2 adults removed<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">\u201cTo ensure compliance with occupant restraint requirements, two adult passengers were transported to a local motel, allowing the children to be seated lawfully,\u201d OPP said.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">Police then escorted the vehicle to <a href=\"https:\/\/maps.app.goo.gl\/xaZJSjCd7rhttQnU8\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/maps.app.goo.gl\/xaZJSjCd7rhttQnU8\">Blind River<\/a>, where proper child restraint systems were obtained before the vehicle was permitted to continue.<\/p>\n<p>Multiple charges laid<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">As a result, the driver, a 33-year-old from <a href=\"https:\/\/maps.app.goo.gl\/1btWMtX8kA2sfz8P7\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/maps.app.goo.gl\/1btWMtX8kA2sfz8P7\">Airdrie, Alta.<\/a>, was charged with speeding, three counts of passengers failing to wear a seatbelt and two counts of driving while a passenger under 16 fails to occupy a position with a seatbelt.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">The driver was released but will have to make a traffic court appearance in Ontario.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">\u201cMotorists are reminded to ensure every occupant is properly restrained and that children are
