He also expressed confidence that the ambassador would make important contributions to advancing bilateral relations during his tenure in Vietnam.<\/p>\n<p>The National Assembly Chairman noted that Vietnam\u2013Canada relations have continued to develop positively in recent years through regular high-level exchanges and effective cooperation mechanisms, helping strengthen mutual understanding and political trust.<\/p>\n<p class=\" ads-detail-center\">He highlighted growing economic ties between the two countries, with bilateral trade reaching approximately US$8.6 billion in 2025. Canada has become one of Vietnam\u2019s important trading partners, while cooperation in science and technology, education and training has also produced encouraging results.<\/p>\n<p>Vietnam attaches importance to its relationship with Canada and considers the country an important partner, the Vietnamese leader told his guest.<\/p>\n<p>He noted that the two countries share common priorities, including promoting peace, stability, the rule of law, multilateralism and diversified international relations.<\/p>\n<p>According to the Chairman, there remains considerable room for cooperation in emerging fields such as clean energy, green growth, innovation, high technology and high-quality human resource development.<\/p>\n<p>He called for stronger practical cooperation in these sectors while making better use of opportunities created by the Comprehensive and Progressive Agreement for Trans-Pacific Partnership (CPTPP) to expand economic collaboration and market access.<\/p>\n<p>The Vietnamese leader also highlighted the importance of parliamentary cooperation, describing it as a valuable channel for strengthening bilateral ties.<\/p>\n<p>He expressed appreciation for Canada\u2019s support in helping Vietnam improve its legal framework and enhance the capacity of National Assembly agencies.<\/p>\n<p>            <img decoding=\"async\" alt=\"vietnam and canada seek deeper comprehensive partnership picture 2\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/canada\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/06\/vietnamese_national_assembly_chairman_tran_thanh_man_and_newly_appointed_canadian_ambassador_to_viet.jpeg\" typeof=\"foaf:Image\" title=\"vietnam and canada seek deeper comprehensive partnership picture 2\"\/><\/p>\n<p>Vietnam and Canada have agreed to deepen their Comprehensive Partnership, expand cooperation in trade, innovation, green growth and technology, and strengthen coordination under CPTPP and multilateral frameworks<\/p>\n<p>For his part, Ambassador Jim Nickel praised Vietnam\u2019s socio-economic achievements as well as its active international integration efforts.<\/p>\n<p>He reaffirmed that Canada views Vietnam as one of its key partners in ASEAN and an important bridge for strengthening Canada\u2013ASEAN relations.<\/p>\n<p>He noted that amid an increasingly complex global environment, Vietnam and Canada share common interests in maintaining peace, stability, free trade and a rules-based international order.<\/p>\n<p>The Canadian ambassador expressed Canada\u2019s desire to work more closely with Vietnam in areas such as resilient supply chains, food security, energy security and climate change response.<\/p>\n<p>Both sides agreed to maintain exchanges between parliamentary leaders, strengthen cooperation among specialised committees and further promote the role of friendship parliamentarians\u2019 groups.
