{"id":96415,"date":"2026-06-20T03:59:39","date_gmt":"2026-06-20T03:59:39","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/canada\/96415\/"},"modified":"2026-06-20T03:59:39","modified_gmt":"2026-06-20T03:59:39","slug":"crtc-approves-stingray-and-rawlco-station-transactions-in-calgary-saskatoon","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/canada\/96415\/","title":{"rendered":"CRTC approves Stingray and Rawlco station transactions in Calgary, Saskatoon"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>\t\t\t    <img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"696\" height=\"522\" class=\"entry-thumb\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/canada\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/06\/radio-board.jpg\"   alt=\"\" title=\"radio board\"\/>\t\t\t    \t\t\t    <\/p>\n<p>The CRTC has approved two radio ownership transactions that will see Stingray Radio <a href=\"https:\/\/broadcastdialogue.com\/stingray-to-acquire-calgarys-chup-fm-from-rawlco\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">acquire<\/a> C97.7 (CHUP-FM) Calgary from Rawlco Radio, and Rawlco subsequently <a href=\"https:\/\/broadcastdialogue.com\/rawlco-to-acquire-saskatoons-92-9-the-bull\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">take over<\/a> 92.9 The Bull (CKBL-FM) in Saskatoon.<\/p>\n<p>C97.7, with a proposed purchase price of $6.1M, currently airs a \u201c90s &amp; Now\u201d Hits format. Solidifying Stingray\u2019s position as the largest radio station operator in the country, bringing its number of stations to 97, CHUP-FM joins the company\u2019s two other signals in the market, 90.3 AMP Radio\u00a0(CKMP-FM) and\u00a0XL 103 (CFXL-FM).<\/p>\n<p>The divestiture sees Rawlco exit Alberta. Its <a href=\"https:\/\/www.crtc.gc.ca\/eng\/archive\/2026\/2026-142.htm?_ga=2.118658636.415559437.1781887517-292703268.1781725774\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">acquisition<\/a> from Saskatoon Media Group, meanwhile, is valued at $5.075M.<\/p>\n<p>92.9 The Bull currently carries a Country format and joins Rawlco\u2019s other stations in the market \u2013 C95 FM (CFMC-FM), which airs a Hot AC format; Active Rocker\u00a0ROCK 102 FM\u00a0(CJDJ-FM); and news\/talk\/sports station\u00a0650 CKOM\u00a0(CKOM-AM).<\/p>\n<p>The transaction leaves Saskatoon Media Group with just two remaining stations \u2013 Classic Hits station 98COOL\u00a0(CJMK-FM) and\u00a0Country 600 CJWW.
