A 30-year-old Bloomingdale man was flown to a hospital Wednesday with serious injuries after a single-vehicle crash in Geneva, authorities said.
The man was taken to Loyola University Medical Center after the crash that occurred about 1 a.m. Wednesday, July 8, in the 800 block of North Bennett Street/Illinois Route 25, the Kane County State’s Attorney’s Office said in a news release.
According to a preliminary investigation, the man was driving north on North Bennett Street when the vehicle exited the roadway off the east side and struck a brick mailbox, a parked vehicle in a driveway and a utility pole, according to the release.
St. Charles police, Geneva Emergency Management Agency and Kane County Office of Emergency Management assisted Geneva police and fire in the response, according to the release.
Geneva electric utility staff cut off the power to the utility pole, according to the release.
A portion of North Bennett Street/Illinois Route 25 from Woodward Avenue in Geneva to Moore Avenue in St. Charles was closed overnight while law enforcement and emergency management personnel were on the scene.
The roadway reopened at 7:45 a.m. July 8.
The crash remains under investigation by the Fox Valley Major Crimes Task Force, according to the release.
