Another low-scoring game for Colombia

Colombia are 5/4 favourites to win this match. It’s a decent price and I considered recommending this bet, but I think that there is more value to be had.

Since beating Uzbekistan 3-1 in their opening group game, the South Americans have been involved in three consecutive low-scoring fixtures.

They beat DR Congo 1-0 and drew 0-0 with Portugal to finish top of Group K, then beat Ghana 1-0 in the round of 32. After three clean sheets on the bounce, this game could also be light on goals.

Switzerland have done well to reach this stage of the competition, but they have not reached the quarter-finals since they hosted the World Cup in 1954.

Although the Swiss remain unbeaten, they have had a kind route through the tournament and Colombia will be the best team that they have come up against. After drawing 1-1 with Qatar in their opening game, Switzerland have beaten Bosnia and Herzegovina 4-1, Canada 2-1 and Algeria 2-0.

They will not find it so easy to score in this match and a Colombia win and under 3.5 goals seems like a relatively safe way to back Nestor Lorenzo’s team at 9/5. If you want a riskier bet, you can go for Colombia to win and under 2.5 goals at 3/1.
