Argentina and Switzerland meet Saturday in the 2026 FIFA World Cup quarterfinals. Kickoff from GEHA Field at Arrowhead Stadium in Kansas City, Missouri, is set for 9 p.m. ET (FOX). Let’s analyze World Cup odds around Argentina vs. Switzerland odds and make our expert soccer picks and predictions.
Argentina, the winners of the 2022 World Cup, ripped through its group stage, beating Algeria 3-0, Austria 2-0 and Jordan 3-1. Moving on to the Round of 32, it had a scare against Cinderella story Cape Verde, who pushed the champs to extra time. Argentina won 3-2 in extra time and advanced to face Egypt. It beat the F Mohamed Salah-led side 3-2 behind a 92nd-minute goal from M Enzo Fernandez, having been down 2-0 with just 15 minutes left before stoppage time.
Switzerland had a similar route. Despite a disappointing 1-1 draw with Qatar to open its tournament, it throttled Bosnia-Herzegovina 4-1 and beat Canada 2-1 to win Group B. Switzerland then dominated Algeria 2-0 in the Round of 32, ending with 1.72 more expected goals than its opponents. Entering as an underdog in its Round of 16 matchup, Switzerland took down Colombia in penalties after a 0-0 finish through 120 minutes.

Argentina 2, Switzerland 1
BET ARGENTINA (-145).
Switzerland’s offensive firepower was extremely disappointing against Colombia, despite scoring in each of its previous World Cup outings. It ended with just 0.39 expected goals and no big chances created. Against a world-class Argentina, it should struggle to keep pace.
Argentina allowed Cape Verde to hang in the game, but against Egypt, despite a second-half comeback, it had a more decisive outcome. The F Lionel Messi-led side had its way, ending with 2.84 expected goals and 5 big chances created. There’s just so much firepower taking the field for Argentina that it should find a way to keep scoring and winning at a high pace. While these odds are a touch expensive, it’s the right play in this game.
BET OVER 2.5 (+130).
Argentina speeds teams up, and it has been able to convert those chances often. It has scored 3 goals in 4 of its 5 World Cup showings. It hasn’t necessarily had luck on its side either. Having ended with more than 2.0 expected goals against both Cape Verde and Egypt, it has earned those goals.
Argentina has scored in the first half in all but one game as well, so it should be able to put some pressure on Switzerland early. While Switzerland has a different style, it has scored 8 goals in its last 4 contests. If it has to get out of what should be a defensive-first gameplan, it can bury shots.
