Reports of an emergency on a Swiss airliner have temporarily closed the runways at Bangor International Airport.

Details are still coming in about the emergency landing that prompted the runway closure, but BGR has posted the closure on its Facebook page. 

WABI-TV reports fire crews responded to the runway as they awaited the landing of a Swiss Air Airbus A330-300.

The flight was en route to John F. Kennedy International Airport when it was diverted to Bangor for an emergency.

That flight landed safely in Bangor, as fire crews waited on the runway.

Passengers are encouraged to check with their airlines for any potential changes in their travel schedules.
